The stunningly beautiful Jessica Alba was born to
Mark Alba (Mexican American) and Catherine Jensen
(Danish and French roots) in Pomona, California. She
was raised in an Air Force family, along with her
brother Joshua (also an actor) and her grandparents,
until she was 17 years old. Jessica Alba is a PADI-certified
scuba diver and has been known to be able to swim
before she could walk, largely because of her mother
who is a lifeguard. The sexy actress has
acknowledged suffering from obsessive-compulsive
disorder during childhood. After high school (she
had several TV ads and shows by then), she studied
acting with William H. Macy and his wife, Felicity
Huffman at the Atlantic Theater Company.
As a child, Jessica Alba appeared in two national TV
ads (JC Penney and Nintendo) and later branched out
into TV shows. In 1994, she had a recurring role as
Jessica in Nickelodeon’s The Secret World of Alex
Mack. And then she was Maya in the first two seasons
of Flipper which was shot in Australia. In 1998, she
had other TV roles in the following shows: Brooklyn
South, Beverly Hills 90210, and The Love Boat: The
Next Wave. In 1999, she appeared in the comedy
feature P.U.N.K.S. by Dennis Quaid.
Jessica Alba’s first film appearance was in Camp
Nowhere with a small role (as Gail). She was hired
for two weeks but the fates were kind enough to turn
it into a two-month job after the actress in one of
the prominent roles dropped out. She later featured
in several independent films, but it was her turn as
part of a snobby high school clique in Never Been
Kissed (Drew Barrymore film) and as the female lead
in Idle Hands (with Devon Sawa) that raised her star
in the cutthroat world of Hollywood. Her big break
came when she was chosen by writer/director James
Cameron for the role of the genetically-engineered
super-soldier, Max Guevara, in the sci-fi series
Dark Angel. Her show ran for two seasons then it was
unfortunately cancelled in 2002. However she
received several awards for her turn as Max
including Choice Actress in the Teen Choice Awards
2001. Jessica Alba’s rise to prominence is definitely
inevitable. She then starred in varied roles since
2002: as an exotic dancer in the monster hit Sin
City, as dancer-choreographer in the funky dance
movie Honey, and as Sue Storm in the hugely
successful Fantastic Four and its sequel. A
promotional picture for her movie Into The Blue was
even used by Playboy without consent! A sure sign
that Jessica has become a HOT commodity.
More than an actress, the desirable Jessica Alba is
also known as a sex symbol (even though she has a
no-nudity clause in her contract!). She has graced
the March 2006 of Playboy and was named as Sex Star
of the Year. She was also among its 25 Sexiest
Celebrities. In the website Askmen.com, readers
voted her number 1 on the 99 Most Desirable Women
list. She is number 2 in Maxim and is FHM’s Sexiest
Woman of the World for 2007. She also graced the
covers of InStyle and GQ magazines last June. Our
darling actress is definitely everywhere! However
she is afraid of being typecast as a sex kitten. She truly wants to be known as a serious actress and has
related that she’ll be more selective in her next
projects.
